What others have said about this trip...

We had an excellent time in Laos, and many thanks for organising it for us - a trip that we will remember for a very long time.

All the arrangements worked very well - no missed flights, no lost baggage, the right people in the right places at the right times. We had an excellent guide who gave us great insight into her country (helped by the fact that wherever we went she seemed to know people) and a truly excellent driver (very safe, coped extremely well with poor road conditions - his minibus was fairly new and in excellent condition, good brakes). The guide's English was pretty good, and she used it well to tell us many stories, folk tales etc, though she found it hard at times understanding more complicated questions. But that's not a complaint!

The itinerary was good, well paced and gave a very good insight into the country, helped also by some unscheduled visits our guide included (eg to visit a family in a village she knew - she'd helped them get medical treatment for one of the children some time ago and she wanted to see how the boy was). Our guide also took us to an excellent place in Vientiane called COPE, an organisation which does excellent work with people who have lost limbs (many from unexploded bombs), where we got a real insight into the impact of American cluster bombing during the 60's and 70's.

I had a truly memorable experience.  The trip through Laos was extensive enough to learn quite a bit about the landscape, people and the country's history.

My impressions include being blown away by the diversity of the different ethnic groups and their amazing art & crafts.  Also the gentleness and humour of the people impressed me considering the hardship they've gone through most of last century.
